Initial Exam
The best results are ones which look good, feel good, and last a long time. We feel this is best accomplished by a thorough assessment of the current conditions, and determining both what is necessary to improve the appearance, as well as function successfully. This begins with our Initial Examination, where we discuss what it is that you desire, and begin to obtain the technical information necessary to make a successful treatment plan.
The design for your future dentistry may require models to be used such as in this case. Improvements to the models, simulating as necessary, esthetic and functional changes are then done on the models before any treatment is proposed.
Provisional Restorations
Provisional restorations (sometimes called ‘temporaries’), are used to establish the proposed changes to your teeth, and are intended to enable you to visualize and feel the changes in both appearance and function. While not as refined as the final restorations, they should resemble the final result. We frequently modify them, and then the details of our mutually agreed upon goals, are given to the artist who will be building your final porcelain restorations Your final result should have the same size, shape, and position of the provisional restorations, while differing in details such as individual tooth characterizations and surface texture.
Final Smile
After trying on the final porcelain restorations, photographing and studying them, we discuss the appearance, and determine if they are meeting our goals both esthetically and functionally. Once we are satisfied, the final restorations are permanently placed. At this time, they should appear very similar to the provisional restorations, with the intended characterizations and refinement.
